Not necessarily, but you should stop trying to turn it on immediately to prevent further physical damage. We use advanced software to retrieve lost files from failing drives.

We highly recommend an automated, "set and forget" approach. Once we recover your data, we can set up an external drive that backs up your computer automatically every week, or configure secure cloud storage so your memories are protected even if your physical computer breaks.

It depends heavily on the size of the drive and the level of damage. Simple file deletions can sometimes be recovered in an hour, while pulling data from a failing, clicking hard drive can take a few days of careful scanning in our workshop.
